Michelle Mischkulnig: Decorative Leaf - Soft Sculpture or Textile Artwork.
In this workshop you will be creating a decorative leaf as a soft sculpture or textile art work.
You will be exploring the interesting and magical technique of layering and stitching silk hankies
( fine silk fibre ) to create beautiful colour ways and other tricks to give your art work a 3D feel.
We will be using interesting materials, silk velvets, silk fabric and cotton gauze in new ways, making a background fabric with water soluble fabric and lifting it with gold paints and gold buffs. The final part of the workshop will be framing your leaf this is optional and the cost of the floating frame is not part o f the kit price but all participants will be emailed prior to class with the option. How far you take these techniques is up to the imagination this is just the beginning.
