Artist Profile
I'm a graphic designer but gave up full time work to concentrate on my art and teaching. I've been an artist, in one form or other, all of my life, painting in acrylic and pastels, working with textiles and jewellery making, as well as paper and mosaics.
Colour plays a vital role in my work, it's influence can be seen across all forms of my art.
I teach workshops on a regular basis from my home and other venues and have taught with overseas tutors at retreats here in Australia and New Zealand.
I've exhibited in numerous exhibitions and also sell my work on line.
My artworks are in Australian and International collections.
I've had my work published in magazines in Australia and overseas.
My work has been published in books, Plaster Studio, The Mixed Media Artist, Story Telling with Collage, Textile Collage and Artist Journal Pages and I was recently one of six artists featured in Maggie Grey's book Approaches to Stitch.

Fabric Concertina Journal
By Ro Bruhn
The journal will be created by stitching fabric to the concertina journal provided in the kit.
You can explore a favourite place or somewhere you’ve dreamed of visiting. Perhaps your happy memories or photos of somewhere you have travelled? You can use photos from travel brochures or maybe ones you’ve taken yourself. It can be a beach or place that you visit regularly, it doesn’t have to be buildings, it can be nature, whatever appeals to you. If the thought of having to draw frightens you, don’t panic, you can trace your photo then use it to cut out your fabric.
You can machine or hand stitch your fabric to the paper concertina journal, (the paper is suitable for machine or hand stitching). An array of ephemera can be used to add interest, metal, plastic, beads and buttons, found objects. You can add tickets from events or travels. Finally we will add bamboo sticks with beads attached to serve as legs so that you can display your journal in a special place.
Download Requirements here
The kit fee will be $30
It will include the concertina book, the legs and beads, tracing paper, metal pieces and fabric glue and vlisofix.
